How Often Should I Get a Pedicure?

It is important to take care of your feet which includes maintaining proper moisturization and trimmed nails to help prevent infection. To maintain happy, healthy feet you should schedule a pedicure regularly at least every 4 to 6 weeks. Some people may prefer a professional pedicure every 3 to 4 weeks to keep your polish in tip-top shape and for moisturization and foot filing. If you maintain a schedule of 4 to 6 weeks you should perform some foot care in the interim at home like periodic filing and continuous moisturization.

Pedicures Help to Prevent Infection

The skin on your feet and in between your toes can become dry and cracked just like the rest of the skin on your body and may be even more prone to cracking as some people just do not moisturize their feet as regularly as their hands or other parts of the body.  Dry, cracked skin can allow for infection to enter the body and could even turn serious without proper attention. Maintaining your skin’s moisture level in your feet helps to prevent cracked skin and infection.

There is a right way and a wrong way to trim your toenails. Sometimes when trimming our nails at home we can risk causing an ingrown toenail which becomes extremely painful and can become infected. Having a professional trim your toenails the right way will help to prevent ingrown nails, pain, and infection.

Regular Pedicures Equals Happy, Healthy Feet

Scheduling regular professional pedicures is a wonderful way to maintain the health of your feet and toes.  If you have issues you wish to address, your pedicure technician can recommend a schedule tailored just for you. For example, only so much callus should be removed at one time to prevent injury. Repeated visits can help to remove calluses and provide the benefit you are looking for.
